Die Nachtigall von Ramersdorf (2000)

The Nightingale of Ramersdorf is a captivating yet sorrowful figure in the German underground. Beginning in the Munich art scene of the 1970s, she became a chanson singer in Berlin through appearances in films by Rosa von Praunheim. The often contentious artist never cultivated a dedicated following. However, people still talk about her in bars, where she performed with a ghetto blaster that frequently annoyed those present. There's rarely much else to say. Now impoverished, dependent on social services, and nearly blind, the Nightingale retains her distinctive voice and the echoes of her past.
