Description:
In the 1960s and 70s, they were television sports icons, even more popular than baseball. Then, they vanished. Now, a man is trying to bring them back! Filmed over seven years (1998-2004), *JAM* follows the story of the America Roller Derby League. A group of skaters in their 50s and 60s, they're determined to revive the sport's popularity. Tim Patten, the league's founder, is at the heart of it all. Diagnosed with HIV in 1983, he believes his love for Roller Derby is what sustains him. He invests heavily in various plans – from an online TV show to hiring models – hoping to draw fans. Meanwhile, he cares for his partner, David, who is battling AIDS. *JAM* is a moving and often funny look at the skaters' lives, both on and off the track.
