Bauern! (Farmers!) (2007)

While researching agriculture in Burkina Faso for a film, I learned about *legré*, a traditional collective harvest. Speaking with a union representative, I discovered a *legré* was planned in a nearby village. The representative arranged for permission to film the event. Upon arriving, the village chief, Emmanuel Sanou Bourouté, inquired about my research. During filming, it became clear the farmers were discussing the challenges cotton producers face in both national and international markets. I also suspected the *legré* had been organized specifically for me.
