Description:

In a royal forest, coal miner Patočka lives and works alongside the gentle dragon Mrak, who has made his home there. Hunters stumble upon Mrak while hunting and, frightened, rush to inform the king. Mrak is currently preparing for his daughter Viola's birthday party. The hunters' exaggerated descriptions lead the king to believe the dragon desires the princess, a tradition he expects to follow. He offers a reward for the dragon's death, but no one volunteers to fight him. Only Marian, the princess's favorite lutenist, applies, but the king dislikes him and dismisses him. The princess’s brother, Jan, wants to help save her, but the king forbids it.
