Description:
Knut Husaby's daughter, Aslaug, is the village's most beautiful woman, attracting many suitors whom Knut and his sons fiercely discourage. Aslaug secretly loves Tore Naesset, but her father dismisses him because he's just a smallholder's son. Instead, Knut wants Aslaug to marry Ola Thormundson, the wealthy farmer's awkward son. Aslaug brings the family's cattle to their mountain summer farm, accessible only by a single road that passes the main farm. After visiting Aslaug, Tore returns to find himself brutally beaten by Knut and his sons, effectively blocking his access to her. Determined, Tore rows across the fjord and begins climbing a towering rock wall, hoping to reach Aslaug at the summit.
