Marvin Gaye: Live in Montreux 1980 captures a recorded performance by the singer at the Montreux Jazz Festival on July 17, 1980, during his European tour. Gaye performs many of his recent disco-funk hits like "Got to Give It Up" and "A Funky Space Reincarnation," alongside duet favorites with Tammi Terrell such as "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" and "Ain't Nothing Like the Real Thing," which he reinterprets as a tribute to Terrell. He also revisits sixties Motown classics like "I'll Be Doggone" and "I Heard It through the Grapevine," as well as seventies standards including "What's Going On" and "Let's Get It On." The Montreux performance was released on CD/DVD in 2003.
