Cracked Ice (1938)

During a routine ice skating session, the film shifts to a central narrative. An animal falls through the ice, prompting a pig, reminiscent of W.C. Fields (known as W.C. Squeals), to request assistance from a Saint Bernard. The dog offers a drink, and Squeals attempts to obtain some for himself. Initially, he tries to fake a fall, but the dog sees through the deception and drinks the beverage instead. Next, Squeals attempts a scheme involving bones and a magnet, but the magnet falls through the ice and becomes entangled with a fish. The fish then swims through a spill from the dog's casket, becoming intoxicated. While spinning, the drunken fish grabs an axe and dunks another skater. It then latches onto Squeals’ skates, pulling him into an ice-skating competition where the fish’s chaotic actions secure Squeals first place. Squeals then pours from the dog’s cask into the loving cup, and the fish swims away with it.
