For over 40 years, Number 2 Lake Biwa School has provided care for severely physically handicapped children. This film uses restored footage from the school's early days, combined with contemporary 16mm sequences of residents and their families, to explore their lives. Each resident carries a unique story. When a long-term resident decides to move to a resident-run halfway house, his parents become anxious. Another resident, reliant on a respirator, communicates solely through eye movements. As the seasons change, quiet dramas unfold within the school walls.
