Description:
*Film Walk* is a unique performance art piece where the projector itself becomes the central instrument. Over several years, Lee has created this work by threading 16mm film directly through the sound head of a sideways-positioned projector, avoiding the standard film gate. The film is specially prepared with a second row of sprocket holes along the side. As the film passes over the sound head, it generates an electronic hum, which can become a harsh, metallic grinding similar to a buzz saw when amplified. Lee manually pulls the film through the projector, causing variations in speed that alter the pitch and tone of the sprocket sound.
