In Between Walls (2003)

The film follows two Ukrainian cousins, Sergey and Eduard, who are undocumented immigrants working as construction laborers near Lisbon, Portugal. They share a cramped converted garage with three other Ukrainian immigrants. Their daily lives are monotonous, but they grapple with intense emotions and longing for home. The story focuses on their final months in voluntary exile, as the desire to return grows stronger and they face the decision of whether to stay or leave. Ultimately, they depart Portugal, and the film documents their initial days back in Ukraine. What hopes can sustain them through the hardships of life in a foreign land?
