Meena Jha (2000)

Meena and Ayesha are teenagers who attend a Catholic school in Calcutta. Despite their vastly different lives and aspirations, they've grown up together. The film follows the girls as they navigate their first adult relationship. Ayesha craves excitement and often escapes into fantastical daydreams, even nightmares. She finds in Meena a devoted listener, someone who wholeheartedly believes her stories and lives vicariously through them. The movie presents a fragmented view of their shared experiences, memories, dreams, and realities, using an unconventional, non-linear storytelling approach.
