Douse Shinunara, Paris de Shinou (2025)

Yoshito Hiruma (31), a part-time university lecturer, becomes responsible for his 10-year-old nephew, Kota, when his sister, who is pregnant, leaves them in his care. Soon after, Kota vanishes. Yoshito eventually finds him and learns that Kota is deeply unhappy with the world around him, expressing a longing to escape. Yoshito understands Kota’s feelings, and as they grow closer, they explore the topic of pessimism, Yoshito’s area of expertise. They begin an unconventional life together, finding a strange comfort in their shared outlook. However, both of them eventually experience devastating tragedy.
