Animal Museum (2005)

Wittgenstein suggested we can't truly understand animals if they could speak. We observe them with a sense of distance, as if we've forgotten a shared history, leading to a quiet sadness. These creatures – with their fur, feathers, and scales – are remnants of a wondrous past, figures in stories and dreams. Over the last two centuries, we've studied and categorized them, coinciding with their decline. Museums hold their remains, a physical record of how we've perceived them. It seems fitting. Museums are designed to reflect the passage of time, both what's gone and what's still ahead.
