Heliogos (2001)

The film follows three garden paths, winding through a changing landscape of time. A camera moves through the gardens, mirroring the earth's orbit around the sun. Six years are condensed and rearranged using editing techniques, creating a complex and playful structure. As Ann-Sargent Wooster notes, "Ultimately, Mcelwee is tracking the effect of time on nature as he moves from summer to winter and back again. Editing is the key here to this complex origami project (think of each edit as a crease)."
