The Shoemaker (2011)

Set in 1990s Gjakova, Kosovo, "Shoemaker" is inspired by true events depicting the escalating political turmoil that profoundly impacts the lives of its people. The film follows Edoni, who, at five years old, is left alone with his ailing father after his mother's death. Over the next decade, at fifteen, he begins working in a shoemaker shop to support them both. His story unfolds through experiences of violence, abuse, and relentless labor, alongside fleeting moments of tenderness shared with his girlfriend, Riga.
