Description:
In a rural village known for its handcrafted toys, Sister Ye's life is shattered when her husband dies mysteriously. Soon after, her son is kidnapped and sold to a wealthy family in Shanghai. The village is then destroyed in a warlord conflict, forcing the survivors to relocate to the city and continue their toy-making tradition. A decade later, Ye's daughter Zhu'er has become a successful toy designer while assisting the Nationalist army. Tragically, she is killed in a Japanese attack. On New Year's Eve, a destitute Sister Ye sells toys on the street. A young boy buys a toy from her – her long-lost son, whom she doesn't recognize.
