Cigarettes & Songs (2010)

This documentary follows weekly rehearsals of singers and musicians in Veľký Slavkov as they record songs for their CD afterPhurikane in a local Lutheran church in August 2009. It offers a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the album, revealing a blend of reality, humor, and unexpected moments. Beyond the powerful traditional Romani music, the film explores the singers’ lives and provides an intimate glimpse into the emotional world of the Roma community. It presents a genuine and uplifting portrayal of the Romani minority.
