Ingo Niermann challenges our long-held perception of the ocean as a dangerous force to be exploited. In *Sea Lovers*, he proposes new ways of understanding and connecting with the sea, seeking its hidden essence. Drawing parallels with early 20th-century seaside amusement parks, which offered a controlled experience of new technologies, the film explores whether an underwater park could foster deeper connections with marine life. It asks if creatures like dolphins and cephalopods could become guides to the ocean, helping us re-establish a relationship with our watery origins. Could the ocean's embrace ultimately lead to acceptance of its wildness?
