Description:

Newly released from prison, Prohibition-era gangster Chick Williams quickly re-enters his criminal world. When a police officer is killed during a robbery, he becomes the prime suspect. Chick had taken the officer's daughter, Joan, to a theater, leaving her during intermission to commit the crime and then using her to create an alibi. The detective squad uses increasingly ruthless methods, including planting an undercover agent within the gang, to try and prove his guilt.
