Description:
Set in the summer of 1945, after the war in Europe ends, this youth film follows 17-year-old Herbert and his friend Allan. They spend most of their time at the Munich Inn, enjoying the music of Leo Mathisen's orchestra. Herbert admires the orchestra's drummer, Spjæt, while Allan is drawn to Anita, the cloakroom attendant. Herbert lives with his mother, a pianist, and works as a grocery delivery boy, supplementing his income through black market trading. He acquires goods for sale at the München Kroen by stealing from his mother or the grocer, eventually selling even his mother's grand piano. A black American officer, whom Herbert has befriended, steps in when Herbert’s activities escalate.
