Description:
After nineteen years of imprisonment for a crime he committed long ago, Jean Valjean is released into a world that rejects him. Bitter and distrustful, he seeks refuge in a small village in Provence but is repeatedly denied shelter. He unexpectedly finds kindness at the home of Bishop Bienvenu, who lives a simple life with his sister and a servant. The Bishop’s unexpected warmth begins to soften Valjean’s hardened heart. However, the urge to revert to his former self proves strong, and he steals the Bishop’s silverware. When caught by the police, the Bishop surprisingly forgives him, offering him the candlesticks as a symbol of a new beginning and sparking Valjean's journey toward redemption.
