The Forgotten Army (2001)

Over fifty years after World War II, *The Forgotten Army* follows an expedition retracing the historic journey of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose's Indian National Army (INA) from 1942 to 1945. The film accompanies several INA veterans, including Captain Lakshmi Sehgal and Colonel Gurbaksh Singh Dhillon, as they journey back to Singapore and Burma, recalling the march through their memories. These interviews are interwoven with archival footage of the places and events they describe – sites now lost to time, like former barracks, headquarters, and battlefields. The story centers on Bose, the INA's leader, featuring powerful footage from his declaration of war on Britain and the US at Singapore's Cathay Cinema Hall.
