Madhubana Kadai (2012)

The film explores the experiences surrounding a liquor shop with an attached bar, focusing on the emotions felt before visiting, and the aftermath of consuming there – the in and out matters. It does not advocate for or against drinking, nor does it offer any particular moral lesson. Director Kamalakannan presents solely the events within and around the liquor shop. A small village was transformed into a liquor shop with bar and Kalyana Mantap, populated by local people who participated in the film. They were asked to stay for twenty days, and all footage was captured and edited on the same night, based on training provided by Director Kamalakannan. Cinematographer Sumee Baskaran used an N7 camera, delivering excellent shots.
