Description:
From 1945 to 1991, a small region in Slovenia, nestled between the Alps and the Adriatic, produced 179 short films. Between 2013 and 2023, the Slovenian Cinematheque preserved and digitized these films, many made independently of state-controlled production. Now, these experimental and innovative works are being rediscovered after decades, gaining recognition as a vital part of Slovenian film history. The Alpe-Adria Underground! project has significantly sped up the work to preserve, digitize, and restore this lost cinematic legacy.
