Everest by Balloon (2003)

In 1991, near the Nepalese village of Gokyo, four men launched two hot air balloons from wicker baskets, aiming to be the first to fly over Mount Everest. For Leo Dickinson and Chris Dewhirst, the pilot and cameraman in one balloon, the flight was a chance to finally succeed after three previous attempts marked by danger and crashes. This documentary recounts their successful flight over the world's most spectacular mountain, in one of the earliest flying machines, before a final crash landing in remote Tibet. It remains the only documented balloon flight over Everest.
