We Homes Chaps (2003)

The film follows a school reunion taking place during the centenary celebration of Dr. Graham's Homes, a school in Kalimpong, a town in northern India near the Bhutan and Sikkim borders. Founded in 1900 by Scottish missionary John Anderson Graham, the boarding school was intended for "destitute and abandoned Anglo-Indian children." Graham was deeply disturbed by the conditions he witnessed in the tea-growing regions of northern India, especially among children of tea plantation workers and British tea planters who faced restrictions on marriage. Over time, the school expanded to include disadvantaged children from various backgrounds, including Lushai, Nepali, Naga, Assamese, and Tibetan communities. The film features interviews with the filmmaker and others who are children of Tibetan refugees.
