Aditya, a 25-year-old former chess champion with muscular dystrophy, has spent the last two months in the hospital. In his mind, he plays chess with Death and consistently wins, unaware of his limited time. While hospitalized, he befriends a 12-year-old girl and decides to donate his eyes to her after he dies, sparking a desire to donate his organs while still alive. He shares this plan with his mother, who initially resists but discusses it with doctors. They refuse, citing India's prohibition against mercy killing. His mother appeals to the Supreme Court, but the request is denied. Aditya dies shortly after, and only his eyes are donated.
