Description:
In 2007, Picture This and Film London Artist's Moving Image Network commissioned Sick Serena and Dregs and Wreck and Wreck through the Bristol Mean Time residency to create this film. It presents audiences with dark, allegorical scenes exploring religious imagery, outdated superstitions, and slapstick comedy. Sick Serena uses visuals inspired by British church stained glass to build a film that is rich, complex, and layered in meaning. The work references Pier Paolo Pasolini's controversial 1963 film *La Ricotta*, for which he was jailed for blasphemy after portraying a religious scene as a comedy. The scenes create a feeling that is both unsettling and humorous.
