Eight years ago, Liu Baohong rescued Liu Zhenguo, an orphan, from the town's garbage dump and took him in. Baohong registered Zhenguo and paid for his schooling, much to the dismay of his wife Xie Ronglan, who worried about the strain on their already limited resources. Baohong continued to adopt orphans, transforming their home into an orphanage.
