Faithful unto Death (2024)

Documentarian Ivars Zviedris begins filming *Faithful unto Death* after meeting a woman who discovers a surgeon's tool in her abdomen from an appendectomy she had 27 years prior. This discovery prompts Zviedris to examine the lives of elderly people in rural areas who form cooperative living arrangements out of financial need, sharing a single home. These arrangements highlight the challenges faced by people forced to live together despite strained relationships, pooling their pensions for basic necessities. At the heart of the film is Mara, a woman with a history of losing partners, who stayed with her last husband, Ivars, for 24 years, united by their shared need to survive.
