Sam awakens in a cold, metal room to find a trail of blood leading from the door to her boyfriend's mutilated body. Despite her fear, she instinctively knows where she is and recognizes the voice on the intercom as her father's. She's confined as punishment, with no clear end in sight. As days turn into weeks, Sam finds a lifeline in secretly communicating with her nine-year-old sister through a small opening in the door. This helps her cope with disturbing flashbacks of her mother's death. Meanwhile, her father instructs her to take pills that induce sleep. Slowly, Sam begins to recall buried memories and realizes she's locked away because something within her must remain contained.
