Taxi Sister (2011)

Taxi Sister is a documentary following Boury, a woman working as a taxi driver in Dakar, Senegal. Behind the wheel, she navigates a vibrant life marked by daily challenges and the ongoing struggle against societal expectations for women. The film is an exploration of the Taxi Sister project, launched in 2007 by the Senegalese government to support female entrepreneurship. Initially, ten women were given the chance to obtain driver's licenses and purchase vehicles on credit. Now, fifteen women taxi drivers operate in Dakar, a small number compared to the fifteen thousand male drivers.
