Breaking Boundaries (2024)

Nastasya Generalova, a Black Californian teenager, was raised by her white Russian mother, Olga, who began rhythmic gymnastics training at age four to link Nastasya to her heritage. The film follows Nastasya's journey of self-discovery as the only Black athlete on Team USA and explores her complex relationship with her mother during the intense preparation for qualifying for the Tokyo Olympics. The story offers an intimate look into Nastasya’s experience as the only Black person in a predominantly white environment.
