More than sixty years ago in New Guinea, a homesick New Orleans man believed the Army would be his final job. Now, photographer Johnny Donnels is internationally renowned. Back home, he was a fixture in the French Quarter, running a gallery showcasing his work. He remained successfully unemployed until his death in 2009, consistently creating art considered largely untapped. Living a life deeply connected to his passions, he was seen by many as the last great Bohemian: embodying freedom and effortless living through simple needs.
