The Class (2005)

In *The Class*, Araya Rasdjarmrearnsook delivers lectures on death to corpses in what appears to be a classroom setting. Filmed in a Chiang Mai hospital morgue, the "students" are unclaimed deceased individuals. The artist performs a lecture, exploring various definitions of death from different viewpoints, addressing the dead directly and inviting them to share their perspectives as if they were living. This approach confronts societal neglect of death, social taboos, cultural discrimination, and religious and cultural beliefs surrounding it.
