A Bridge of Books (2001)

In 1939, Yiddish was the primary language for most Jews globally. By 1980, scholars estimated only 70,000 Yiddish books remained. This documentary follows Aaron Lansky, a determined 23-year-old, as he organizes an international team to rescue these books. Twenty years later, the National Yiddish Book Center has gathered 1.5 million Yiddish books, preserving a vibrant and surprisingly contemporary literature from being lost. Using archival footage and showcasing the Center's facilities, *A Bridge Of Books* highlights a vital effort to share history, culture, and identity with future generations.
