Desiré (2023)

Desiré, a sixteen-year-old girl of Neapolitan and Senegalese heritage, drifts through life without friends or aspirations. Her world mirrors the emptiness in her mother's eyes, a woman battling addiction. The only bright spot is Emanuele, an older boy climbing the ranks of the local criminal scene. Their connection leads to trouble, and Desiré is arrested, ending up in a juvenile detention center. Confined within the walls, she unexpectedly begins a gradual journey of self-discovery.
