Description:
In 1975, as Mozambique gains independence, a young revolution aims to reshape society. In Maputo, efforts are made to eliminate prostitution and perceived vices. Prostitutes are relocated to rural re-education camps, where they are to be transformed into loyal citizens. Amidst this "clean-up," Margarida, a 16-year-old girl from the countryside, is wrongly taken. Drawing on true stories, *Virgin Margarida* explores a little-known period in Mozambique's history, one that suppressed individuality and reinforced male authority.
