Description:
Billy Kuckuck is accustomed to unconventional methods, but she's not used to suppressing her own judgment. So, a task involving collecting a debt from the family of a recently deceased farmer deeply troubles her. The lender is Mr. Röschke, a neighbor and fellow farmer, whose relentless demands for repayment threaten to bankrupt Tanja Pohlmann. Already overwhelmed after her husband's death – who took out the loan without her knowledge – Tanja is struggling to keep the farm afloat. Her son Niklas is sacrificing his education to manage the daily tasks, jeopardizing his future. And nine-year-old Sophie is skipping school to help her mother at the farm store. Billy feels compelled to assist the Pohlmann family, but she's unsure where to begin.
