Children of Corn (2004)

This film recounts Khrushchev's ambitious "corn campaign" as seen through Soviet newsreels from the 1950s and 1990s. It details the campaign's key phases, culminating in a period when the Soviet Union was exporting corn. The story, built from archival newsreel footage, is punctuated with excerpts from propaganda cartoons of the era. The film follows a pensioner who dedicated 25 years to developing a new, frost-resistant corn variety, only to see the USSR dissolve before he finally achieved success.
