Description:
Iranian filmmaker Samira Makhmalbaf's 11'09"01 September 11 depicts an Afghan refugee camp receiving news of the September 11, 2001 attacks, which the United States had seemingly foreshadowed. A young teacher attempts to explain the events to her students and lead them in a moment of silence for the victims. Her efforts are repeatedly thwarted. Ultimately, she imposes the minute of silence on the children near a chimney, the structure most resembling a skyscraper.
