Description:
Four hundred years ago, formerly enslaved Black people journeyed across the Atlantic to Africa. Upon arrival, they walked from the beach to a tall cotton tree, resting there after their voyage. Reinvigorated, they named the location Freedom Town, which became Freetown, the capital of Sierra Leone. Elder Ballu attempts to recall this history and its lasting significance.
