In Vancouver, three couples grapple with the challenges of new life together. Noah and Zipporah's marriage begins after a quick courtship, but strains when her singing aspirations don't materialize and his business faces financial difficulties. Architects Sarah and Shane experience tension as he struggles with her professional success. Meanwhile, librarian Leslie's sharp demeanor masks problems within her marriage to Peter, a college teacher who becomes infatuated with a student.
