In 1995, Javier Codesal completed this film based on the notes and sound design left by Val del Omar, who had begun the project twenty years earlier but died before finishing it. Codesal incorporated significant additions, particularly to the soundtrack. Del Omar's notes reveal he considered alternative titles like "Caress of the Magic Land," "Caress of Our Land," or "Clay of Souls." He envisioned a second sound channel using ambient recordings made during the film's initial screenings with the original community, intending to capture the essence of its origins.
