Clyde King, a toy store worker who enjoys crafting wooden toys and watching women, catches the attention of the female owner of a major toy company. She admires his carvings and asks her second-in-command, Lyle "Skippy" Burns, to hire him. But King refuses, as the owner reminds him of his mother. He's then plagued by strange fantasies where "Mother," as he envisions the company owner, berates him. Learning about King’s habit of stalking women, Skippy tries to lure him into a job by providing him with women. He even disguises himself as a prostitute. However, each arranged encounter goes wrong, leading Skippy to decide that killing King is the only solution.
