For over two thousand years, a hundred thousand slaves toiled in the mountains that gave rise to the wealthy Roman colony of Carthage, extracting silver. Portman Bay, once known as Portus Magnus, served as the port for ships carrying this precious metal to the city. For centuries, the mountains, the bay, and the people maintained a fragile equilibrium, disrupted by modern mining and construction – Robert Sink's massive operation. Now, Portman Bay is contaminated with millions of tons of toxic waste from ore processing.
