Following their success with the musical *Dracula*, composers Karel Svoboda, Zdeněk Borovec, and Richard Hes created *The Count of Monte Cristo*, which played for 444 performances at Prague's Congress Center between December 13, 2000, and December 21, 2002, drawing a total audience of 600,000 viewers. The musical, nearly two years in the making, showcases Karel Svoboda’s exceptional musical talent, alongside the brilliant writing of Zdeněk Borovec, who also contributed to the theme and script. Richard Hes was a key collaborator, responsible for both the theme and script and the choreography. This Czech Television recording allows audiences to experience the show.
