Description:

In 1987, amidst a strike by the Egyptian film industry, Chahine portrays Yehia, the celebrated director known for "Alexandria, Why?" and "An Egyptian Story." Yehia becomes fixated on Amr, the charismatic actor he discovered and cast as himself in the first two films of The Alexandria Trilogy. He pushes Amr to take on different roles, even as his view of the young actor evolves. First, Yehia offers Amr the part of Hamlet, which Amr considers beyond his abilities, then as the lead in a musical biopic about Alexander the Great, who founded Alexandria in 332 B.C.
