The Knowing (2024)

In 1993, Adam, a white man in his late 30s, visits his Black ex-lover, Peter, who is dying of AIDS in a Washington D.C. hospital. Peter's best friend, Cherie, a Black lesbian naval officer, is also present. They listen as Peter voices his pain over his "Christian" family’s abandonment, interrupted by a nurse administering his medication. Later, while waiting in the hospital cafeteria, Adam and Cherie, who are meeting for the first time, discuss the progression of Peter's illness. Their conversation leads to a devastating realization, forcing Adam to confront a difficult situation he struggles to process.
