Description:

A foreword cautions against sensationalized reporting, a warning reflected in the story of Cornwall, New York, following the death of wealthy financier George Ferguson. Two contrasting New York City journalists arrive in Cornwall: one seeks truth, the other thrives on creating sensational headlines. Mrs. Ferguson's friendship with a local banker becomes a point of interest. The night of his death, the Fergusons argued (Mrs. Ferguson later tells police it was a burglary), and she is arrested, fueled by the sensationalist journalists who also harass the banker's wife. Meanwhile, Bruce Foster, who runs the local newspaper, the Cornwall Courier, demonstrates to the city reporters how to uncover genuine news as they try to manipulate the situation for their own gain.
